Although web design has never been part of my job description, I have created, or been involved in the creation of, some websites for friends or at work. Here are some samples:

Websites I've designed:

Batidora Digital is an e-zine my friend Diego and I created in 2005. We 'enlisted' some friends to help creating articles and we ended having a good number of articles about history, travels, comic books, movies, ... It's a project I really like and, after some time off, the page is back online.

The site is managed using a CMS called SPIP and, besides writing articles, my other roles are editor, designer and maintainer of the website. I've ended up knowing quite a bit about SPIP, which is a peculiar but interesting CMS.

The Applied Optical Techniques Group (TOA), ascribed to the Electronics Technology, Systems and Automation Engineering Department (TEISA) of the University of Cantabria (UC) is a research group formed in 2002. This is the group's website I created for them.

My own website :). I've created a content management system (CMS) from scratch (programmed using PHP 5, SQLite, Javascript and AJAX) to easily manage it. A GPL'ed version of this CMS, called Yonas CMS, is available at this site.

Websites I've helped design:

MaRTE OS is a Hard Real-Time Operating System for embedded applications that follows the Minimal Real-Time POSIX.13 subset and developed at the Computers and Real-Time group at the University of Cantabria, Spain

I made the logo and helped with the design and some css and php programming.

FRESCOR is a consortium research project funded in part by the European Union’s Sixth Framework Programme.

For this one, I helped a little with the design and some css and php programming.

About:

My name is Álvaro García and Binary Nonsense is my website and digital playground. I'm an engineer, artist, programmer, designer... and I use this website as a way to share some of my work and thoughts.

Here you can find my portfolio, where I include some art samples, programs, games, designs and anything I think is interesting enough to be shown.

Apart from that, the site includes a blog, where I like to write about some topics I'm interested in: books, history, games, movies...
