"Turok" (game review)

I bought this game knowing I'd at least have a good time playing it. Reviews, online and in magazines, gave it good scores, although not great, and everything I read and watched convinced me to try it. And I'm certainly not disappointed at all. This new Turok is a really good game.

It may not have the best graphics, although they look pretty good, or the best AI. It can be too linear and not exactly original, but... it's fun!

I enjoyed a lot playing Turok, I've played tons of first person shooters and, yet, this one felt somewhat different, with its own personality. Dinosaurs are a great addition to gameplay, you never get bored of killing them with your knife, or watching them attack your human enemies. Weapons aren't very surprising, but you can use the bow (you can't have a Turok game without his bow) and it's a useful weapon, not like in many games where you can use one. Levels are linear, but their design is quite entertaining, jungle looks good (but not by far as beautiful as Crysis') and buildings add an interesting technological touch to the sceneries.

There are some final bosses, something I don't usually like, but I have to admit I enjoyed fighting them. They aren't too difficult but are hard enough to make you feel good after killing them.

Of course, the game has some things I didn't like: loading times are too long and you can't save the game anywhere you want (checkpoints again).

Turok is a fun game to play, a good new member of the saga.
