"The Boondock Saints" (movie review)

boondockTwo Irish brothers who live in Boston kill a couple of Russian mafia members who try to murder them after a fight in a bar. After this events, they decide to start killing evil-doers in their community 'cause they thing it's God's will. They become local heroes: "The Boondock Saints". Meanwhile, the FBI detective assigned to their case is gonna try to catch them, and he is really good at what he does...

This film was a great surprise to me. Before I saw it the first time I didn't imagine I'd like it so much. Direction is good, the story is original enough, some characters are great and action scenes are well done. But what I most like of this film is Willem Dafoe's part. He is really great in the role of the gay FBI agent who is after the brothers. How he moves, how he talks, he brings to life this strange talented agent, some times intimidating, some times funny, always clever, his performance is amazing. Sean Patrick Flanery and Connor MacManus, the two brothers, do it fine, but Dafoe is the best of the movie.

The other actor that stands out is David Della Rocco, who plays the 'Funny Man', the wretch friend of the brothers who works for the Italian mafia. It's a really funny character.

"The Boondock Saints" is a great violent action movie with some drama and lots of black comedy. Hate it or love it.
