"Una historia de la Guerra Civil que no va a gustar a nadie" (book review)

guerracivilSome time ago I read a small book by Juan Eslava Galán, that came with a History magazine for free, titled "Los Templarios y otros enigmas medievales", a collection of a few short texts about some historical events or people like the Knights Templar, King Arthur, the fall of Constantinople... which I really enjoyed. So when I had the opportunity to buy "Una historia de la Guerra Civil que no va a gustar a nadie", which could be translated as "A history of the civil war no one is going to like", also written by Galán, I didn´t doubt it.

In only around 350 pages, in the edition I have, Juan Eslava Galán manages to summarize most of the main events in the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939, in such an entertaining way, something extremely difficult in a History book , I couldn't leave it till I finished it (something also happened to me, not long ago, with the book about Juan Pujol).

It isn't the most exhaustive work about that war but It's a great book to start learning about it. A real pleasure to read. Highly recommended.
